Grasping at the moments in between

Kate Cashman - The Breath Between

You have a lot going on. I get it. You'd LOVE to get to a yoga class every few days, meditate twice a day, run 5km a couple of times a week (who am I kidding, I wouldn't but I know some who would...), or even better yet, head off on retreat every so often to a place in the mountains for some fresh air and to 'escape.'

For so many of us though - that's just not possible. Whether it's a crazy work schedule, lots of social engagements around that work or a young family - often our time doesn't feel like our own and fitting ANYTHING extra in can be tricky.

“People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills... There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind.... So constantly give yourself this retreat and renew yourself.
— Marcus Aurelius

But I'm here to tell you two things.

One - it's a priority for us to do SOMETHING. To tune into ourselves, to slow down, to explore what makes us feel rested and renewed.

But I'm also here to tell you that it doesn't have to take an hour or so - or a weekend retreat. What we do in the breath between moments, or when we feel stressed, or upset - that all counts.

So grasp at those moments in between, and use them to tune into yourself, slow down and find peace and slowness, even if it's for five seconds.

So think of this - when you're feeling slightly stressed, or when you'd rather get back to a state of feeling peaceful and renewed.

I'd love to hear what you do in your in between moments.

With an open heart,

Kate xxx
