Standing on stage after winning the 2017-2018 Emerging Coach of the Year Award at the Beautiful You Coaching Academy's Awards celebration was surreal. The last 18 months building my business one-on-one with clients and through my blogs, events and speaking roles has taught me a number of really important lessons. Many of them in doing business more gently than I have in the hustle of my previous and academic working life. I share some of those lessons with tips for coaches at the beginning of their journey.
Don’t get me wrong. My visualisation game is strong. I practice every morning and I know where my life IS heading. And I will get there. But I made a decision that I could be happy, grateful, and present with the life that I have right now too. This is my intention for 2018. This blog shares five tips for how to balance vision for your future life with an appreciation of the abundance in your life right now.
Ever feel like your life is 'ordinary' and those quotes about 'being extraordinary' and 'embracing your most amazing life' just make you feel like you're in Groundhog Day and it's just not possible for you? This post is about how your life IS and CAN BE extraordinary, even if you can't take a year off to travel through South America or open your dream business right now.
Finding time to 'holiday at home', otherwise known as a 'staycation' can have amazing benefits both personally, as a partnership and as a parent if you have little ones around. This post highlights my recent experience holidaying ten minutes away from where my kids were being babysat and the four big benefits of why you should add this to your holiday list!

When I was 15 I came second in an Australian national public speaking competition with an ode to Australia's ragged bloody heroes. It was a Legacy event, and I recently found my words and they remain as true today, on this Anzac Day of 2017, as they did in 1999 and of course during the battles fought so many years before. This blog shares the story of Edward 'Weary' Dunlop and is dedicated to all of those who have served and those who continue to serve our great country. I thank you and I honour you.
The amazing book 'Miracle Morning' by Hal Elrod will change your perspective of morning rituals or routines. This vlog/episode will share some of my biggest take home messages from this book - focusing on the Life S.A.V.E.R.S that help you start your day focused, inspired, on track and in charge (of your life too!) all by spending intentional time on six key areas. I've adopted a morning ritual that I love by following the suggestions in this book, but I want to be able to summarise these for you - perhaps with a new perspective on how you think and what mornings might have to do with turning that all around.
I've spoken about morning rituals before, but I can't stress enough how a well thought out ritual - whether it be five minutes or an hour - can impact the rest of your morning, or indeed, the rest of your day!
This video talks about how a morning ritual can be transformative and set the scene for a positive day moving forward and some of the things you might consider for your own morning rituals.
So you don't have time to do twenty minutes of meditation a day? Or maybe you're a bit intimidated by the whole meditation process, but know of how incredible the benefits supposedly are.
Well perhaps it's time to start micro-meditating? This video runs through ways you can build as little as a minute of meditation practice into your daily life, so that you can find ways for the 'busy' to be balanced with the 'blissful'.
Sometimes walking for pleasure or for your health and fitness can come second to higher intensity exercise. But what if you reframe walking so that it is also a conscious intention practice - one where you can practice mindfulness and 'meditate' while you do it.
This video blog explains some of the benefits of mindful walking and how you can bring a different kind of meditation into your life. No equipment needed, just you and wherever you are - eyes wide open!
What on earth would a rest and renewal coach bring to my life?
We have personal trainers and group trainers for our fitness and mental wellbeing (hopefully both come with physical exercise) but did you know a coach can also have your back emotionally and spiritually, as well as physically and emotionally?
Some reflections from me about how having a coach to help you feel renewed by your life, and why comparisons to sporting coaches can be really helpful.
It's often easy to feel overwhelmed by social media.... sometimes it can make you feel physically exhausted, but mentally exhausted as well. Disconnecting often is a great approach, but often that's hard in what is an inter-connected and media savvy world. In this week's video blog I'm sharing my three tips for how to slowly disengage with social media, or at least find patches of time where you can disconnect and feel more connected to yourself. If you don't like how scrolling social media makes you feel - emotionally or physically - but don't know how you can begin to change that feeling, then this video may have some helpful suggestions.
So knowing that you don't need to be great to start, but that you need to start to be great - how do we find what works best for us to move us forward? To overcome procrastination or something that we are passionate about, but a little frightened of?
This week's video is about my own experience with the path of least resistance and how that can often lead us on a magical adventure - one that we thought must have been 'harder' or more 'time consuming' or more 'treacherous' to start. Well - it doesn't have to be. Start where you are at. Start with what FEELS good and you are on the way to greatness. Take Elizabeth Gilbert's advice to Brene Brown and put it into your own life. Make it EASIER for yourself.
Want to kick off 2017 feeling full of energy - not just physically, but emotionally, spiritually and mentally? Then you need to connect with me for your 90 minutes 'awakening' session - a brand new offering where we work on your 'intentions' for 2017 (not 'goals') based on how you want to feel every day. This is not your average goal setting session and if you've ever been put off by 'goal setting' then this is definitely for you! For less than $100 AND two weeks email follow up and support from me, this is absolutely not a session to miss. You'll leave with inspiration, actions and momentum to live 2017 fully engaged and full of energy.
Christmas can be as draining as it is fabulous and prioritising your self-care is important in the week/s that follow. It's not just overwhelm but here in Australia it could be sunstroke, dehydration and death by trifle (I'm not a trifle fan but I have left overs sitting in my fridge from yesterday's feast... so. much. trifle).
So I've put together some simple and concise self-care rituals for the holiday period. Just some of my favourites here at The Breath Between HQ. Take five or ten minutes out to feel re-centered, re-fuelled and renewed and get back to having a most fabulous day and holiday period!
Whether it is someone who has lived a long life, or someone who was robbed of years of experiences still to come - I don't think we can say goodbye to someone we know and love without something shifting inside us. Grief, hope, sadness, kindness, love, motivation, inspiration - there can be any combination of feelings, but we never remain the same.
It's often hard for you to find time for yourself - for rest, renewal and feeling connected to who you are and how you want to feel. Powerful rituals can be transformative and they can boost your energy levels, help manage anxiety and increase your productivity every day. But most of all, they help you feel amazing!! This week's video is all about changing the word 'routine' to 'ritual' and seeing how that can change the way you feel about what you do everyday.
Here at the Breath Between I am all about fitting rest and renewal into the nooks and crannies of your busy life - finding rituals that you can fit around all the other fantastic things that you do that you don't want to or can't give away. BUT - there is a big but here though - if you CAN get away on retreat and separate yourself from the normality of your every day routine, then you will transform your life and your relationship with yourself.
"No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted"
Generosity among strangers can be contagious - you spread a small amount of love to someone you don't know and your emotional and social wellbeing expands and energy grows, and what you give out comes back to you ten fold. Like cosmic karma. Paying it forward comes back in spades.
Giving back to your community: it's not just great for those you are helping, it's also great for you too. It brings you joy, love, compassion, gratitude - among other things. Tune into this video to get nine reasons why volunteering and giving back helps you as much as it helps others.
Do you have a place in your home that creates an instant sense of calm, of renewal, or peace?
An altar can create that sacred space of contemplation, meditation and relaxation - simply by looking at it and by sitting down to focus your efforts and intentions towards that which you wish to manifest.
Everyone who knows me, knows that I'm a chatter box. I'm an extrovert. The very definition of one. Me? Silent?
But one of the biggest lessons I've learnt over the last few years, has helped me in all the years that I can remember in my life - is that purposeful silence has had a profound affect on my life. Even as a Type A extrovert. Listen in for why purposeful and conscious periods of silence are so good for us.
I often found myself saying about my two year old - he's just so FRANTIC! He never slows down.
He'd race around constantly, and I'd say he was 'full of energy' and that it would be a 'blessing as an adult just harder to manage as a child' and similar phrases to help explain why I was exhausted and frazzled and he was always on the go.
But after some amazing help from a family specialist, we felt confident to cut out a lot of the chit chat. Here are six reasons why introducing quiet parenting into your household and your family will help you and your kids.
Feel like you're too busy for a hobby? If you feel like your stress is under control, you have free time in abundance and feel refreshed every day - maybe you can bypass this video. But if not - that's ok, these aren't the only reasons why everyone should have a hobby of some sort. Tune in for five big reasons why hobbies are good for your health!
