When I was 15 I came second in an Australian national public speaking competition with an ode to Australia's ragged bloody heroes. It was a Legacy event, and I recently found my words and they remain as true today, on this Anzac Day of 2017, as they did in 1999 and of course during the battles fought so many years before. After seven years, two babies, getting married, moving house twice and a whole host of travel and adventures along the way, I finally, FINALLY submitted my PhD.

Some about forensic criminology, lawyers, DNA evidence. Some about how much I love to teach/lecture/work with students. Some about academic life.
But mostly about myself and the sort of life that I love and what is important to me.

The amazing book 'Miracle Morning' by Hal Elrod will change your perspective of morning rituals or routines. This vlog/episode will share some of my biggest take home messages from this book - focusing on the Life S.A.V.E.R.S that help you start your day focused, inspired, on track and in charge (of your life too!) all by spending intentional time on six key areas. I've adopted a morning ritual that I love by following the suggestions in this book, but I want to be able to summarise these for you - perhaps with a new perspective on how you think and what mornings might have to do with turning that all around.
I've spoken about morning rituals before, but I can't stress enough how a well thought out ritual - whether it be five minutes or an hour - can impact the rest of your morning, or indeed, the rest of your day!

What on earth would a rest and renewal coach bring to my life?
We have personal trainers and group trainers for our fitness and mental wellbeing (hopefully both come with physical exercise) but did you know a coach can also have your back emotionally and spiritually, as well as physically and emotionally?
Some reflections from me about how having a coach to help you feel renewed by your life, and why comparisons to sporting coaches can be really helpful.
It's often easy to feel overwhelmed by social media.... sometimes it can make you feel physically exhausted, but mentally exhausted as well. Disconnecting often is a great approach, but often that's hard in what is an inter-connected and media savvy world. In this week's video blog I'm sharing my three tips for how to slowly disengage with social media, or at least find patches of time where you can disconnect and feel more connected to yourself. If you don't like how scrolling social media makes you feel - emotionally or physically - but don't know how you can begin to change that feeling, then this video may have some helpful suggestions.

Christmas can be as draining as it is fabulous and prioritising your self-care is important in the week/s that follow. It's not just overwhelm but here in Australia it could be sunstroke, dehydration and death by trifle (I'm not a trifle fan but I have left overs sitting in my fridge from yesterday's feast... so. much. trifle).
So I've put together some simple and concise self-care rituals for the holiday period. Just some of my favourites here at The Breath Between HQ. Take five or ten minutes out to feel re-centered, re-fuelled and renewed and get back to having a most fabulous day and holiday period!
Whether it is someone who has lived a long life, or someone who was robbed of years of experiences still to come - I don't think we can say goodbye to someone we know and love without something shifting inside us. Grief, hope, sadness, kindness, love, motivation, inspiration - there can be any combination of feelings, but we never remain the same.
It's often hard for you to find time for yourself - for rest, renewal and feeling connected to who you are and how you want to feel. Powerful rituals can be transformative and they can boost your energy levels, help manage anxiety and increase your productivity every day. But most of all, they help you feel amazing!! Here at the Breath Between I am all about fitting rest and renewal into the nooks and crannies of your busy life - finding rituals that you can fit around all the other fantastic things that you do that you don't want to or can't give away. BUT - there is a big but here though - if you CAN get away on retreat and separate yourself from the normality of your every day routine, then you will transform your life and your relationship with yourself.

Generosity among strangers can be contagious - you spread a small amount of love to someone you don't know and your emotional and social wellbeing expands and energy grows, and what you give out comes back to you ten fold. Like cosmic karma. Paying it forward comes back in spades.
Decluttering: it's not JUST about clearing physical space. It's about generating space energetically in our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions so that we can be fully engaged.
